Otay Water District Shares GIS Success with the Help of gbaMS at the 2005 ESRI International User Conference
July 26, 2005
SAN DIEGO , Calif. – Otay Water District (OWD), which provides water and sewer services to people in an area of almost 130 square miles in southeastern San Diego County, has two presentations scheduled for the 2005 ESRI International User Conference. OWD Chief Information Officer Geoff Stevens will present “Bringing It All Together – A live demo of an Integrated Enterprise Solution” from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, and Ming Zhao will present “The Benefit of Enterprise GIS for Otay Water District” during the “GIS Solutions for Water I” Moderated Paper Session from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26. The presentations will include how implementing infrastructure management software developed by GBA Master Series, Inc. (gbaMS) allowed the California agency to benefit from enterprise spatial analysis.
OWD became a gbaMS client in 2004. Since then, the gbaMS enterprise software has facilitated District access to GIS data. Enterprise GIS has helped OWD provide easy access to the entire district’s staff. GIS also serves as an enterprise solution that integrates infrastructure management, parcel management, customer services, permit and fixed asset management into the OWD environment. In addition, the agency uses GIS to maintain data integrity, validate tabular data and keep data up to date.
The Moderated Paper Session at the ESRI user conference will also include the following papers: “Enterprise GIS Solutions for Water Agencies: OMWD,” by Tom Kennedy of Olivenhain Municipal Water District; “GIS for Water Supply Company Management,” by Agung Prabowo of PT. Maxxima Innovative Engineering; and “GIS as a Focus for Field Computing Systems,” by Randal Rios of the City of Phoenix.
