gbaMS Announces Regional User Group Meeting

March 2005

Overland Park , Kan. - GBA Master Series, Inc. (gbaMS) announces the first GBA Master Series regional user group meeting. All GBA Master Series users are invited to attend; however, the meeting will focus on the Ohio River Valley region users. The one day event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Sanitation District No. 1 (SD1), a wastewater collection and treatment agency located in Ft. Wright, Ken. The meeting will be hosted by GBA Master Series users from SD1.

The meeting agenda will focus on using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance management efficiency and system operations. Additional meeting topics will include a preview of the upcoming GBA Master Series software version 6.71 and breakout sessions.

In addition, SD1 staff will conduct a demonstration a recent data integration project involving television inspections and GIS. SD1 uses collected data to pinpoint problematic areas on GIS and accurately provide budget calculations for optimized maintenance and rehabilitation. SD1 began using GBA Master Series software in 1999 to organize asset maintenance activities and refine plans for asset rehabilitation.

SD1 spans approximately 178 square miles and serves 33 communities in Boone, Campbell, and Kenton Counties. The area’s population includes more than 300,000 residents, or 80% of the total population of the tri-county area. On a daily basis, the treatment plant processes more than 30 million gallons of wastewater. SD1 owns, operates and maintains over 1,500 miles of combined and separated sewers, one major wastewater treatment plant (Dry Creek), nine small treatment plants, 130 pumping stations, and 15 flood pump stations.

Registration is required to attend this first ever regional GBA Master Series user group meeting.
