ATTENTION ALL GBA/GIS USERS!

The Map Products session of the gbaMS Annual Conference & Training (ACT) has been designed to be a “show and tell” session for GIS map products. What is a map product? It is what you produce or work in from your gbaMS system every day - plots, map books, Arc projects on PDAs, laptops or desktops, etc. - the mapping output that you create to meet everyday needs in your operation.

The Map Products session will not have a presentation, but rather allow you to walk around the room looking at map products that others have brought and interact by talking one-on-one with them about those products. It is intended to be similar to the Map Gallery that ESRI has at their annual conference only on a much smaller scale.

All GIS people want to see what other people are doing - what colors, fonts and symbols are used, what plot layout designs are used, what layers are used in the project, and what data was used to create the unique values of a layer, to name a few. This session will provide an opportunity for you to share and see these things.

Please make this be a vibrant session by volunteering to bring one or several of your map products. There is no limit on how many you can bring. There are no presentation requirements for what you bring. It does not have to be mounted on a poster board. It can be as big or small as you can comfortably bring with you. The important thing is to bring something!

If you are willing to participate and display something, please email the following information to Susan Gregg (sgregg@hampton.gov) no later than September 16th, 2005:

1. A description of what you are bringing (i.e., sewer map book, plot of storm drain basins, water project on a PDA, etc)

2. A contact name, phone # and business name.

Susan Gregg, a gbaMS Client Advisory Board member and avid GIS user is assisting Jennifer Cairns, gbaMS ACT coordinator, with this session. We will use the data you supply to make information cards to place with your display item(s). You are not required to attend the session even if you bring a display, but it is preferred that someone is available to answer questions about your display.

This session will only be as good as you make it! Please come and share your talents with everyone!
